Cape Rachado Walkabout

Cape Rachado Walkabout

A different kind of hike - beachcombing, rock climbing, nature trails amidst few hundred year old Meranti trees, getting a natural tan.

The lighthouse, rugged rocky outcrops, mangroves, beautiful secluded sandy beaches, Hang Tuah's footprint, a lone grave circa 1960, a freshwater spring right in the tidal zone, sea cave, sea swirls/ whirlpools. I half expected to see a mermaid :P

Shared a packet of nasi lemak whilst enjoying the cool sea breeze at a rocky promontory and listening to life stories from the ofduty lighthouse keeper. Met and got some enlightenment from  a hermit who had been meditating here for 9 months. Really interesting walkabout.

Let the photos do the talking. A good time to come here again would be in March to coincide with the annual Raptor Watch.

Mystical & mythical Sungai Lembing.. an idyllic & rustic former mining town that time forgot
Dawn at Bukit Panorama

Early morning view of the town
Suspension bridge - one of eight throughout town
The majestic Sg. Lembing rainbow waterfall

We had heard about this place for some time. At the invitation of some Sg. Lembing friends, a few riding buddies from KL, Bentong and myself made an inaugural recce trip to Sungai Lembing in September 2011 to check out new riding trails. Whilst there, we could not resist checking out some other famous sights and we're really glad we did. The riding trails were awesome, the sights were breathtaking, the townfolks warm & friendly and the food is great. Here are some pics and video we took. Looks like a return trip in the very near future is in order.
